Club of Northeast Ohio

Greetings fellow Wharton alums,

I hope that your summer is off to a good start.

Please consider joining our club or renewing your membership for the new fiscal year.  We believe that the Wharton Club of Northeast Ohio serves several important functions:

  • It provides an opportunity to reminisce with others about fond memories of our days in Philadelphia
  • It creates opportunities to make new friends and acquaintances that may be helpful from a personal and professional standpoint
  • It offers a continuing education component as we learn from some of the excellent speakers and panels that are assembled
  • It helps to keep a bit more of a connection to the school that has contributed so much to our success

We do not have a large membership at the moment, and we are very eager to boost the membership and activity levels of the club.  The club’s business model is simple – we hope to break even on our events, and we need enough in dues to pay for the services of our club administrator.  If you feel like becoming a member at the standard level, the dues are $75 per year.  If you are worried that you won’t make any or many events but you still want to support our efforts, we would welcome $20 - $25, or whatever you would care to pay (perhaps less than some of you pay at Starbucks every week).  Any amount will be greatly appreciated. To access the online membership registration, please Click Here .

We have a couple of exciting events coming up.  You should have recently received an invitation to the Summer Social at Shoreby on Wednesday, July 26.  This is always a great event at one of the nicest spots in Ohio (  The cost of the event is generously subsidized by a sponsorship from Progressive Insurance (thanks to board member Kia Berglund and her colleagues).  If you can possibly join us, we know that you will have a great time with interesting conversations and refreshments on the sunny shores of Lake Erie. To learn more about the Shoreby Summer Social please visit our website ( ).

Our next event will be a middle market M&A panel in late August / early September, which will provide interesting insights into the market.  Even if you are not looking to buy or sell a business, or to otherwise be involved in that sort of thing, we believe that you will learn a lot from the event.  Watch your e-mail for more details.  Guests are always welcomed to our events.

We are very open to new ideas and to having new members (of all ages) volunteer to help out with the club.  We have a very good and dedicated board of directors, but we definitely could use some new ideas and energy.  Involvement in the club doesn’t take much time, but it can be a very valuable experience. Would you like to suggest a topic, help plan an event or improve our website?  We would welcome your help.   If you have any ideas or questions, please feel free to call me at 216-337-1537 (cell) or e-mail me (

We very much appreciate your renewed or new membership in our club, and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.

Thank you.
